The Lord's projects curently in operation at Calvary Chapel Burbank

Hospitality Network (Family Promise)
We invite pre-screened families in need to stay overnight as a guest for one week while they are in a comprehensive counseling program during the day. Sharing the love of Jesus by providing a hot nourishing meal to families, providing needed prayer, sharing the love of Christ, extending an invitation to other services and Bible studies, babysitting to give mom a break, playing games with the kids, too. Providing Bibles as needed.

The available volunteer positions are:

  • Cooking services team (shift 5:30-7pm)
  • Hospitality/Prayer team (shift 6:00-8:30Pm)
  • Safety team (Overnight) (shift 9Pm-7:00Am)
  • Logistics team (Flexible day hours)

Disaster Relief
Working with and training with other relief organizations such as Committed Relief (CC La Habra) and by being a member of Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster / Emergency Network Los Angeles. We may also partner with other churches to provide needed food services to evacuees and emergency workers in the community.   Learn light urban search and rescue team addressing the needs of the elderly in disasters by providing emergency welfare checks and supplies. (Training provided by Burbank Fire Dept CERT) Sharing the love of Jesus by providing a hot nourishing meal to evacuees and emergency workers. Extending an invitation to services and Bible studies, and offering prayer throughout. Providing new believers Bibles as needed.

Hands That Feed Outreach
Sharing the love of Christ by providing a hot nourishing meal to the homeless in a recreational setting. Providing needed prayer, extending an invitation to other services and Bible studies, sharing the love of Jesus, maybe even providing a new believers Bible. (Currently operational every other Saturday morning) Kitchen team cooks or makes sandwiches, Hot coffee or Punch; serving prayer team delivers food and prayer to those in need surrounding the community.

Local Jail Services
Working with City Officials, to identify Christian needs of detainees. Sharing the love of Jesus by providing Bibles so that they may find comfort, and salvation in the Lords word.

Enhancing other ministries
Working with other ministry leaders to share the love of Jesus, to provide skills that may enhance the ministry they are working on. This may even include other Christian groups in the community or even interfaith support.

Disaster Welfare Check
During a disaster, the Relief Team will check on seniors or those with special needs. Trained volunteers will call, drive, bike, or walk to the residence of the senior, to pray with them, ensure their safety or other needs. This information will then be communicated to appropriate persons. This service is free. To be placed on the list please sign up at the CCB Store.

How can you help?

Free training provided!

A commitment is needed, volunteering ranges from 1 hour a week to approximately 8 hours a week during special events. Additionally, attendance at church services for 6 months prior to volunteering for the Relief ministry is recomended.

  • At home prayer team / Praying for Jesus' workers, missionary's, and especially for those who don't know Jesus and that the relief ministry may be the seed needed. Praying for leadership that the decisions made are wise, and will glorify Jesus in everything they do.
  • Being part of a Prayer / Hospitality Team that responds on these and other projects. This team shares the love of Jesus by praying for those in need, extending invitations to bible studies and services, sharing community social service information, identification of needs of those being served.
  • Being part of a Food Production team that shares the love of Jesus by ensuring a safe nourishing meal is provided. Work may be done in our own Calvary Kitchen on site, or a Calvary Field Kitchen with portable equipment. We may also work in other fixed kitchens too. Chef's, Kitchen Supervisors, Cooks, Kitchen workers and Safe Food Servers. Being ready to share the love of Jesus with others are needed.
  • Being part of a Material Support team / This is a behind the scenes group that performs resource management ensuring that all programs have needed equipment and supplies. Such as food for those in need, and Bibles are available.
  • Being part of a Safety team / Perform safety inspections of fire suppression equipment, First aid equipment, ensures evacuation routes are clear and assists to ensure safe evacuations. Works to ensure the protection of life and property.
  • Being part of a Volunteer Staffing team / Helps to ensure that programs and events have trained and ready workers for Jesus.
  • Police background checks are required on all positions that have interaction with those under 18 years of age, and those who are being detained.

When possible we are referring to commerical size food products i.e. #10 cans. (available at Smart and Final, Sysco, Costco, etc.)

Creamy Peanut Butter, Jelly (any kind), Large cans of Tuna in water, Punch mix/Kool aid/Gator aid/lemon aid mix, Pudding mix, Jello, #10 cans of Beef Stew, #10 cans of mixed vegitables, 10 lb rice,(10 lb pinto beans November thru March) , 4 loaves of bread every other friday only.

Note: We can not accept anything that is open/broken or unsealed.
